Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas

Isn’t everyone home yet?

And is it really “home,” if you’ve never been there before? Don’t worry… that’s all part of the mystery. This is the latest in the oeuvre of “Time for [insert identifier here] to Come Home for Christmas.”

Carly is a music teacher who takes on a Christmas season contract to whip a small town church choir into shape. On the same bus is Matt, returning from military service and wondering what he’s going to do with his life post-service.

But why here? Why now?

Well… for that we need to talk about some… questionable… moral choices. And from the church folk, no less! Because this isn’t just any small town, and the timing isn’t coincidental. Oh no. Carly was sought out for this particular contract because 1) this is her first Christmas solo after the death of her mother, who had raised her as a single parent; and 2) the choir leader is… her aunt - WHO HAD NO INTENTION OF TELLING HER THAT THEY WERE RELATED when she hired her.

There’s a love story. Obvs. I mean, it’s Hallmark and Chris Carmack, so…

But that’s all secondary to this wannabe Sister Act without the goons from Reno.

This one was… not great.

Again, isn’t everyone home yet?

Classic Christmas movie tropes:

  • Carolling

  • Need to “save” something - in this case, a tone-deaf small town church choir

  • Secret family

  • Filmed in Canada

You’ll like this if…

You enjoy watching Chris Carmack on Grey’s Anatomy and don’t fault the man for getting paid and staying busy in the GA off-season.

SCORE: 3/10
