Scouting for Christmas
Scouting for Christmas a husband a full-time dad is more like it…
The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker… Scratch that. The single mom, the baker, and the precocious child intent on making sure her mother has a love life.
Angela is a successful realtor, solo parenting her stepdaughter whose widower father is a wannabe Indiana Jones, traipsing through the jungles of Peru only to make a surprising reappearance right when Angela starts to get close to the local bakery owner, William. Kudos to the screenwriter who wrote the bio-dad, Dakota, as a State-named archaeologist, complete with the fedora. Now, if only he had pulled out a whip then this could have gotten really interesting…
Standard Hallmark fare of the kid bringing two of her favourite adults together in the hopes that sparks would fly amongst some of the standard Christmas movie tropes.
Props to Angela for being a full-time parent to her stepchild. And side-eye to Dakota, who, after being widowed with a 2 year old, remarried, divorced, and then left to pursue his career while his ex-wife took over full-time parenting duties for a 10-year old child. Definitely giving that kid a list to unpack in therapy in years to come.
