Trivia at St Nick’s
Christmas trivia? I’m in!
You know, props to the writers for setting up the concept from the first few frames. I get it - there’s a Christmas trivia contest at the local bar in a small New England college town. A team of profs pulls in a last minute ringer - the football coach - to join their team for the season. This would absolutely be up my alley, so scored some points with me on that front… I mean, when you end up with a the better part of a decade’s worth of liberal arts education, you become very good at trivia games. Combine that with my love of all things Christmas and this was a solid combination.
Not really a Christmas movie per se, but definitely enjoyable and enough of the standard tropes to keep my interest - baking montages, cutesy team names (Quizmas Elves and We Came to Sleigh), and some meta plots with a whole trivia category dedicated to Hallmark Christmas movies. Talk about knowing your audience, lol!
Light and entertaining, this was a decent entry to the annual countdown.
