Holidate
Friends Dates With Without Benefits
Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) are both single. She’s still heartbroken over her last boyfriends, and he is tired of casual girlfriends tying to get serious when he doesn’t want to. They happen to meet and agree to become each other’s “holidate,” kicking off a standing platonic date for every holiday from then on.
But wouldn’t you know it, the platonic date-with-no-benefits agreement turns into something more after almost a year of spending every holiday together, even though they maintain that they are NOT attracted to each other that way, despite them both being conventionally gorgeous (and his Australian accent…).
This was a really fun rom-com that’s had a Netflix budget and no worry about ratings, so definitely not the Hallmark G-rated content that I typically review here. Decent light fare for a break from the norm.
Hap-Hap-Happiest Scene:
Ok, so it’s not the happiest, scene, but Jackson blows his finger clean off while playing with firecrackers on the 4th of July. This would never, ever, EVER make it into a Hallmark script, but makes for some decent comedy.
Wait! Why do I recognize that person?
Luke Bracey got his start where seemingly every Australian actor does - Home and Away
SCORE: 7/10
Tell me more!
Fed up with being single on holidays, two strangers agree to be each other's platonic plus-ones all year long, only to catch real feelings along the way.
