Where are you, Christmas?
It’s a Pleasantville Wonderful Life
Hallmark took a SWING with this one! For a brand that’s typically all about the tinsel and twinkling lights, a movie that is 75% black & white is a choice!
An amalgamation of Pleasantville, Wizard of Oz, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Groundhog Day rolled into one, this is NOT your standard Hallmark fare.
Addy, a Christmas marketing pro, wishes for a year without Christmas. After spinning out on black ice, she is knocked unconscious and awakens to a world in black & white where there is no memory of Christmas. The only way to regain colour and festive cheer is to remember Christmas.
Inexplicably, she is the last to transform from her monochrome persona, despite being the only one to remember it at first, and only after a kiss. Obvs.
Classic Christmas movie tropes:
Big city gal back in her small hometown
Christmas pageant
You’ll like this if…
You don’t need a cutesy love story and like the more off-beat Hallmark movies. It’s not an art house flick, but something a little different every now and then keeps it interesting.
