Ms. Christmas Comes to Town

Why is the “Holiday Shopping Channel” not a real thing?!?

Seriously, tho! I would totally be down to shill Christmas stuff year-round! I mean, all I’m saying is that I’d be down to have a(nother) Christmas-focused side gig.

Ok - the movie.

Diagnosed with terminal cancer, Ms Christmas sets out on a small town tour to spread Christmas cheer while she still can. Amanda is Ms Christmas’ current assistant and chosen successor. And Travis is the nurse sent along for the ride by the network.

Now, as much as I love some of the totally campy Christmas romances that are Hallmark’s sugar & spice, I quite enjoy these flicks where the romantic storyline is more of a subplot. And in this case, there truly are 3 lead characters. Ultimately this is about celebrating Christmas and one woman’s love for the season.

Of note - how is this home shopping network host travelling around in a custom tour bus this fancy?!? Feels like this kind of rig would be reserved exclusively for the Tayvis’ of the world - hella slick!

Brennan Elliott  - Calgary native and frequent co-star to Lacey “Eternal Youth” Chabert. Also had the big showcase role in Christmas in Vienna a few years ago - still a highlight in the Hallmark Christmas repertoire. In the case of Ms Christmas though, I’m a little lost as to how the nurse gets promoted to co-host of the Christmas shopping show, but whatevs…

Classic Christmas movie tropes:

  • Baking/ decorating together

  • Christmas markets

  • Breaking the Hallmark mold with a kiss before the final scene (#IYKYK)

You’ll like this if…

You enjoy Christmas movies that are more about festive cheer and less centred on the romance.

SCORE: 6/10
