A Carol for Two
Wickedly good
I confess - my musical-loving heart was already looking forward to this one, so I watched it with green & pink coloured glasses. Because when you have two LEGIT Broadway stars in Ginna Claire Mason and Jordan Litz, you can bet your ruby slippers that there’s going to be singing, and it’s going to be GOOD.
New to New York, Violette finds a job at Fiore’s, a Broadway-adjacent diner with singing waitstaff following their dreams of stardom. Alex is her coworker who sets her up with his roommate, before eventually realizing his own feelings for her. Shades of Chandler buying Cathy an early edition of The Velveteen Rabbit come to mind; just substitute a Yule log (the most classic of Christmas desserts) for the book and there you go.
Filmed in Winnipeg and predictably festive, this movie is light and easy to watch, with enough carolling to defy gravity.
All this by way of saying… how does one score an invite to a Christmas party where Broadway stars sing Christmas carols all night long?
