Holiday Mismatch
Not a Teenage Witch movie
If you were a girl in the 90s you almost certainly watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch a time or two, and as you can see from the movie poster, this entry to the Countdown to Christmas lineup was absolutely pulling on those ol’ nostalgic heartstrings.
Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, the aforementioned Sabrina’s witchy aunts, are cast here as two members of the town’s Christmas Committee - one (Rhea) an old-hand with her own particular way of doing things, and the other (Broderick) a newly-retired former accountant (and all that that implies… zzzzzzz ;) ) trying to find ways to fill her new free time. Coincidentally, the clashing ladies meddle in their children’s lives and accidentally set up their two children on a date.
The classic tale of trying to break up their children’s romance due to their own disagreements unfolds, in the lightest way imaginable, and with many a requisite Christmas movie activity along the way.
Not particularly memorable… I’m hoping Broderick’s upcoming foray into Netflix with The Merry Gentlemen provides to be more enjoyable.
